Unshakable Faith in an Unsteady World
We have to be careful in this time — so careful. God’s Word tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT), “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”So we know that the enemy isn’t sleeping, but still plotting tricks and wickedness to steal the Word that God has planted deep within our hearts. We need to recognize that if he can weaken our faith, dull our devotion, or make us comfortable enough to stop seeking God and His Word, then he’s snatching the authority and power that’s rightfully ours. We cannot allow anything or anyone to distort our view of who God is. Instead, we must guard what God has planted.
We’re not created to drift. We were created to give God glory. That’s our mission and reason for being. Every breath we take is meant to echo back praise to the One who gave it.
As we walk through these days, faith is not optional — it’s survival. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) says, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Faith doesn’t create truth; it believes the truth God has already spoken. It’s not a feeling or a tool to get what we want — it’s trust in the character of the One who never fails. Faith is the title deed to what God already owns and has promised to us. It’s proof of ownership long before we see the promise show up.
In Titus 1:2 (NLT), Paul writes that he is a special messenger of Christ sent to proclaim the truth of the Gospel so that we can receive the promised gift of salvation: “This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.” Salvation is promised to us, but we can’t hold it in our hands or touch it. Through Jesus Christ, we must know that it is ours for the asking. You may not see the answer to your prayer yet, but faith says it’s already settled in God’s hands.
When it comes to what God says in His Word, we take it by faith. He’s faithful—steady and true—always. Even when the waiting drags on, His Word is still at work. Faith doesn’t bend to feelings; it stands on trust.
And while we stand, we also serve. James said of Abraham, our father of believing, in James 2:22 (NLT), “You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.” Faith isn’t lazy. It doesn’t sit back and watch others carry the load. It ministers. It encourages. It warns. It moves. If our faith isn’t active, it’s idle — and idle faith is the easiest target for doubt.
As James shows us with Abraham, true faith is alive and working. It’s moving higher and forward in Christ by continually obeying God’s Word, even when the outcome isn’t visible. Our faith is proven not just in what we believe, but in how we live it out.
As we face an unsteady world, our faith in action — lived out through obedience, prayer, and trust in God’s promises — is what keeps us anchored. When trials come, when distractions try to pull us away, and when the enemy prowls like a roaring lion, our faith has to hold firm. This means that we’ve got to cling to Jesus Christ as we guard God’s Word in our hearts. We’ve got to speak His promises out loud and live in alignment with His truth.
Faith that acts in this way can’t be stolen, shaken, or silenced. And while standing firm in Christ isn’t always easy, it’s the only way to walk in His victory. So be encouraged. Let your faith speak, let your praise rise, and keep your heart anchored in the only One who never changes — Jesus Christ. He is our confidence, and as the world shakes, the ones who remain unshakable are those who stand in Him. ■
