Don't Just Learn About Jesus—Live Like Him

You can’t just learn about Jesus Christ and sit on it. He’s not someone you study like a textbook or admire from a distance. When you truly encounter Him, something has to move. When you light something explosive, it explodes—and that’s exactly what happens when His Spirit ignites your soul. Power was never meant to be hidden.

Jesus made it possible for us to be power carriers—not because we’re perfect, but because the Holy Spirit now lives in us. We don’t learn about Jesus just to collect facts or quote Scripture—we learn to become like Him. And once you truly know who He is and what He’s done for you, your heart and mouth should become vessels that release that same power into the world.

The Word tells us in Colossians 2:10 (NLT), “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Everything God made His only begotten Son to be, He calls us into. That’s not small. That’s not passive. That’s purpose and power.

But here's the hard question: what does it say about your faith if you’ve received all this knowledge about Jesus and done nothing with it? James 2:26 (NLT) reminds us, “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” When we don’t activate what’s been deposited in us, our faith stagnates—and so does our life. It’s no wonder so many believers feel unfulfilled, directionless, and spiritually dry. Without movement, there’s no momentum. Without giving, there’s no receiving.

Faith doesn’t just sit still—it moves. And to activate it, we have to take a step. That step might look different for each of us, but it always involves doing something with what God has placed in our hands. When we choose to release what He’s given us—whether it’s time, love, resources, or even a word of encouragement—we make room to receive even more. Jesus explained this principle in Luke 6:38 (NLT): “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap...” This is how the believer is called to live—not in lack, but in overflow. In steady expansion. In divine multiplication. And what we give, in faith, determines the measure of what we receive. It’s a heart posture that trusts God to do more with our obedience than we ever could on our own.

When we walk into a Chinese restaurant and see those little paper cartons packed full of rice, we understand this Luke 6:38 principle a little better. They press it down, shake it up, and somehow manage to get even more in there. God does the same. When we pour out what He’s given us—our time, our love, our faith, our truth—He presses it down, shakes it up, and sends it back overflowing.

Too many Christians are complaining about praying without results, but have we examined our faith? Have we done anything with what He’s already told us? In Luke 6:43-45 (NLT), Jesus made it very plain for us:“43A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. 44 A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. 45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

In other words, if the fruit in our lives is bitter, lacking, or out of order, we’ve got to check the root. What are we feeding our hearts? What are we meditating on, speaking, and sowing into our days? Our lives will always reveal what’s really going on beneath the surface. And if we don’t like what we’re seeing—we need to let God do some real work in the soil of our hearts.

This walk with Christ was never meant to be passive. It’s not enough to just know His name—we’re called to carry His nature. That means moving from information to transformation, from church attendance to Kingdom impact. It means letting His Word shape our decisions, His Spirit guide our steps, and His love flow through our lives in real and tangible ways.

If we truly believe Jesus is who He says He is, then it’s time to live like it. Let your faith breathe. Let your obedience speak. Let your life bear the kind of fruit that makes people want to know the One who planted it. Because a faith that just sits and never moves isn’t alive—it’s just stored potential.

So don’t just learn about Jesus—let Him live through you. Speak truth. Walk in love. Give boldly. Forgive freely. Serve with joy. And trust that as you pour out, He’s already working to pour back in—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. That’s the life He promised. Not easy, but full. Not perfect, but powerful.

Now is the time to move. Because power was never meant to stay hidden—and neither were you.

DeclarationToday, I choose to live like Jesus.I will not settle for head knowledge without heart transformation.I declare that my faith will be active, alive, and visible.I am a carrier of His Spirit, a vessel of His power, and a reflection of His love.

I release fear, laziness, and spiritual stagnation.I declare that what God has placed in me will not stay buried.I will speak truth, walk in obedience, and give freely. My life will bear good fruit, and my heart will stay rooted in Him.

I trust that as I pour out, He will fill me again—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. This is my season to move. This is my time to grow. And I will not hold back.

In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, Amen. ■
